Sri Sri Holistic Hospitals, Kondapur, has successfully treated and discharged a premature baby boy born at just 28 weeks of gestation (7 months), highlighting the hospital’s advanced neonatal intensive care capabilities combined with ethical and affordable treatment practices.
The baby was born with a low birth weight of 900 grams and required specialized medical attention. The newborn was referred from an outside facility and transported to Sri Sri Holistic Hospitals through a specialized neonatal transport system, ensuring continuity of critical care. Due to respiratory immaturity commonly seen in extreme prematurity, the newborn initially required ventilator support, followed by gradual weaning under continuous monitoring. The baby remained in the NICU for approximately 60 days, during which a dedicated multidisciplinary team provided round-the-clock care.
With sustained clinical improvement, the baby was stabilized and discharged without major complications, weighing 2 kilograms at the time of discharge, marking a significant milestone in recovery. The neonatal care team consisted of Dr. J. Subhash Chakravarthy, Consultant Neonatologist & Pediatrician, and Dr. S. L. Narasimha Reddy, Consultant Neonatologist, who closely monitored the baby’s progress throughout the hospital stay.
Speaking about the case, the treating doctors emphasized that premature babies require prolonged, specialized NICU care and that advanced neonatal support plays a crucial role in survival and long-term outcomes. Importantly, the hospital highlighted its commitment to ethical and affordable healthcare. Despite the complexity and duration of treatment, the entire neonatal care was provided at nearly one-third of prevailing market costs, making advanced NICU services accessible to common families without compromising quality.
“This case reflects our belief that life-saving neonatal care should be both technologically advanced and financially accessible,” the doctors noted.
