Steel factory coming to state due to Nara Lokesh’s efforts, says Industries Minister

State Industries, Commerce and Food Processing Minister TG Bharath said in the assembly on Thursday that it was due to the efforts of Minister Nara Lokesh that the famous Arcelor Mittal & Nippon Steel industry is coming up in Nakkapalli mandal of Anakapalli district. He said that  the development being done in the state needs to be known to all the people.

Replying to the questions raised by the members of the assembly, he said that the industry will be set up with a proposed investment of Rs 1,47,162 crore (Rs 61,780 crore in phase 1 and Rs 85,382 crore in phase 2) and will provide direct and indirect employment to not less than one lakh people.He announced in the assembly that a unified steel plant with a capacity of 17.8 MTPA will be set up in 2 phases (7.3 MTPA in the first phase and 10.5 MTPA in phase 2).

The Minister said that  previously Arcelor Mittal & Nippon Steel had the idea of setting up industries in Odisha. As per him, in 2018, the then government discussed the possibility of setting up the industry in AP. However, in 2019, when the government changed, the deal did not materialise. Minister TG Bharath said tha Lokesh had spoken to Aditya Mittal and convinced him to set up industries in AP He said the industry came to the state with the belief that there was an NDA government under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu. He announced that It will remain the largest steel industry in the country Minister TG Bharat expressed his satisfaction that in the recent Davos Summit also, AP was promoted well.
