Strict vigil for peaceful Holi festival

Hyderabad: Ahead of Holi, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar has called for peaceful celebrations and warned of strict action against troublemakers.

During a review meeting at TGICCC in Banjara Hills, the Commissioner directed the officials to intensify visible policing across the city. Blue Colts and patrolling teams have been instructed to maintain constant vigilance to prevent untoward incidents.

The police commissioner made it clear that forcibly applying colours, harassing women, throwing colours on pedestrians or vehicles, and creating public nuisance will not be tolerated. SHE Teams will be deployed to monitor misbehaviour, particularly against women.

Police have also banned DJs during celebrations and warned that vehicles of youths creating disturbances will be seized. In view of the ongoing Ramadan month, officers have been instructed to ensure that prayers are not disturbed and to coordinate with peace committees in sensitive areas.

Liquor shops, toddy compounds and bars and restaurants within the city police commissionerate limits will remain closed from 6 am to 6 pm on March 3. Cases will be registered under the City Police Act against the violators
