Telangana Food & Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced on Tuesday that meals with superfine rice will be provided in government schools and hostels from now on. On the occasion of New Year celebrations, he had lunch with the students of the Social Welfare Gurukul School in Huzurnagar on Tuesday night. He spoke to them cordially on the occasion. This program was held to welcome the New Year to the students who are studying away from their families.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that several decisions have been taken for the welfare of the students like increasing the diet charges by 40 percent and cosmetic charges by more than 200 percent. As per the request of the students, Rs.10 lakhs were sanctioned from the MLA funds for college furniture, Rs.5 lakhs for library books and Rs.5 lakhs for improvement of sports facilities. An integrated government Gurukul school is being constructed in Gaddipalli with Rs.200 crores and in the first phase, 28 integrated Gurukuls are being constructed across the state, and another 26 will be constructed in the second phase.
