Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi warns against adulterated and unhygienic food

Metro India News | Hyderabad

Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi has issued a stern warning against the production of adulterated and unhygienic food products, stating that such practices endanger public health and lives. On Wednesday, Mayor Vijayalakshmi conducted surprise inspections of several flour and sweet preparation centers in the Suraram area of the Kukatpally zone.

During the inspections, the Mayor identified substandard goods being prepared and sold in unhygienic conditions. She noted the lack of adherence to basic quality standards in the preparation of flour-based dishes and other food items. The Mayor also observed that many products lacked manufacturing and expiry dates, and questioned the violations related to storage regulations. She instructed the concerned officials to take appropriate action against these violations.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Vijayalakshmi emphasized that public health is a top priority. She pointed out that consuming substandard food items leads to food poisoning and health issues among children and adults. She urged everyone to be cautious when consuming outside food.

The Mayor stated that GHMC would take strict action against the sale of substandard goods and warned that violations of regulations would not be tolerated. She assured that inspections would continue to prevent the sale of harmful food products and advised the public to be mindful of the food they consume, especially for children who are more susceptible to illnesses.

The inspection team included Additional Commissioner of Health Pankaja, GHMC Food Assistant Control Muthyam Raju, Food Safety Officer Lakshmi Kantham, CMHO Dr. Padmaja, and Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Abdul Wakeel, among others.
