From online tax payments to AI-based attendance, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is deploying cutting-edge technology to make city services faster, more transparent, and citizen-friendly.
Residents can now pay property tax, apply for trade licenses, and request sanitation services entirely online through the MyGHMC app. The platform also enables doorstep e-waste pickup booking, mosquito fogging requests, and WhatsApp-based complaint reporting for garbage and construction waste dumping.
Geo-tagged tracking of anti-larval operations has brought greater accountability to field inspections, while the Comprehensive Challan Management System helps streamline sanitation enforcement. AI-powered facial recognition ensures accurate, contactless attendance at the Head Office. Meanwhile, GIS mapping of public assets such as parks, toilets, and streetlights is underway to improve urban planning.
“These initiatives demonstrate GHMC’s commitment to leveraging technology for public good, making governance more transparent, responsive, and citizen-friendly,” said Commissioner RV Karnan.
Additional Commissioner (Revenue & IT) Anuraag Jayanthi noted, “We aim to provide faster, more convenient services to residents while addressing civic issues with advanced tools.”
Adding to this momentum, GHMC is preparing to launch a GenAI-based pilot project in partnership with Google. The initiative will harness generative AI to address complex civic challenges and elevate service delivery to new levels.
With these innovations, Hyderabad is positioning itself as a national leader in tech-powered municipal governance.
