The President of Telangana Cotton Association and President of Warangal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bommineni Ravinder Reddy, along with General Secretary Kakkirala Ramesh and Joint Secretary Katkuri Nagabhushanam, met the Minister for Marketing, Telangana State, Tummala Nageswara Rao, at his office in Hyderabad.

During the meeting, they expressed their gratitude to the Minister for ensuring that 90% of Telangana’s cotton production—amounting to 40 lakh bales out of the total 45 lakh bales—is procured from farmers at the minimum support price through the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI).

Additionally, they appreciated the timely deposit of funds into farmers’ accounts within 3-4 days via an Aadhaar-linked app under the supervision of the State Marketing Department. Recognizing his efforts in benefiting the farmers and achieving key objectives, they honored the Minister with a bouquet and a shawl as a token of appreciation.

Furthermore, they extended their congratulations to the officials of the Cotton Corporation of India and the directors and officers of the Marketing Department for their support in implementing these initiatives under the Minister’s guidance.

They also brought to the Minister’s attention that after the bifurcation of the state, the cotton industry in Telangana has been facing several challenges due to the absence of an international-standard laboratory for testing cotton quality. This lack of infrastructure has been hindering cotton exports from the state. To address this issue, they urged the government to implement its previous decision to allocate one acre of land in the state capital for Telangana Cotton Association to establish such a facility.

Additionally, they discussed the current situation of the Warangal Agricultural Market and requested the Minister to finalize a nominal lease rate for the 35 guntas of land previously allocated to the Warangal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and grant necessary permissions for construction. In response, the Minister positively acknowledged the concerns and directed the Marketing Department officials to take immediate and appropriate action on the mentioned issues.
