Borra Caves-Lambasingi tourism circuit is progressing, with tenders underway

Minister urged the Union Minister to approve the second and third phases of funding

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography Kandula Durgesh held a video conference with Union Minister for Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat from his office at the Velagapudi Secretariat. The meeting, also attended by Tourism Department MD Amrapali Kata, focused on the progress of tourism development projects under central government schemes such as PRASAD, Swadesh Darshan 2.0, and Shashki Scheme.

Minister Durgesh announced that 60% of the development work at the historic Simhachalam temple has been completed under the PRASAD scheme. He urged the Union Minister to approve the second and third phases of funding to expedite the remaining work. Further, the tender process for Annavaram temple development has been successfully completed. However, election-related restrictions had caused temporary delays, which will now be addressed swiftly. 

The minister stated that the Borra Caves-Lambasingi tourism circuit is progressing, with tenders underway. The minister also confirmed that Gandikota Fort tenders have been received, paving the way for further development. The ambitious Akhanda Godavari tourism development initiative is currently at the tender stage, and efforts are being made to accelerate its implementation. 

The minister requested fast-track approvals for key tourism projects under Swadesh Darshan, including Nagarjuna Sagar, Ahobilam, and Suryalanka. The Union Minister responded positively, assuring full support for these proposals.  

Minister Durgesh also requested the Centre to consider a proposal submitted on September 19, 2024, for the Vedagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Nellore. Additionally, he urged approval for the Mangalgiri and Arasavalli temple development projects.Expressing gratitude to the Union Ministry of Tourism for its continued support in sanctioning various tourism projects, Durgesh reaffirmed the state’s commitment to strengthening tourism infrastructure and boosting Andhra Pradesh’s appeal as a major cultural and heritage destination.
