State govt prepares to meet summer power demand

The State government is all set to meet the anticipated power demand during the upcoming summer, stated Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka. On Tuesday, the Deputy Chief Minister held a review meeting with officials from the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (SPDCL) at the B R Ambedkar Secretariat to discuss the action plan for electricity supply during the summer season.

Bhatti Vikramarka assessed the power demand from the previous summer, the expected demand for the current summer, and the strategies being developed to address that demand. He emphasized the importance of ensuring a continuous power supply without interruptions, noting that power supply is an essential and sensitive issue. He urged officials and staff to remain vigilant round the clock.

The Deputy Chief Minister instructed electricity department officers at all levels to conduct meetings to evaluate their preparedness to tackle potential field-level problems and raise awareness among consumers. He encouraged a collaborative approach within the Energy department, stating, "Everyone in the Energy department from lineman to Minister should work like one family."

Vikramarka assured that the government is ready to provide all necessary facilities required at the field level and encouraged officials to ask for anything they need. He highlighted the importance of extending emergency vehicle services provided in Hyderabad city to rural areas.

He directed the completion of all Sub Stations and other works by March 1 and instructed the officials to start giving incentive awards to staff who deliver exceptional service. The meeting saw participation from Energy department Principal Secretary Sundeep Kumar Sultania, Transco CMD Krishna Bhaskar, SPDCL CMD Musharaff Ali, Energy department OSD Surender Reddy, and other officials.
