Telangana Police have issued a public advisory cautioning citizens against fraudulent WhatsApp messages claiming to offer eKYC or Aadhaar updates. Officials stressed that such messages, often sent from unknown numbers, are designed to trick users into downloading malicious APK files. These files can compromise personal data and lead to financial fraud.

The advisory highlights that banking transactions and KYC updates should only be carried out through official applications or authorized platforms. Citizens are urged not to click on suspicious links received via WhatsApp or SMS, and to avoid downloading any APK files that promise quick updates. Police warned that scammers are increasingly using fake alerts to target unsuspecting users, particularly by impersonating banks and government services.

Authorities emphasized the importance of spreading awareness among family and friends to prevent cybercrime. They advised people to remain vigilant, report suspicious activity, and immediately discuss such threats with those close to them. Telangana Police reiterated that public cooperation and alertness are crucial in curbing cyber fraud and ensuring digital safety across the state.
