Telangana seeks Norway investment push

IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu on Thursday urged Norwegian companies to invest in Telangana, highlighting strong opportunities in life sciences and healthcare. He was speaking at a special meeting at Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat with a high-level delegation led by Norway Ambassador May Elin Stener. Both sides discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring new areas of collaboration.

The minister explained the state’s industrial policies, ease of doing business reforms, and investment-friendly ecosystem. He said Telangana has become a preferred destination for global investors, especially in knowledge-driven sectors.

He also noted Norway’s global leadership in clean energy, offshore wind, electric mobility, climate innovation and green manufacturing. He invited collaboration in emerging areas such as AI, climate tech, health tech, deep tech, cybersecurity, digital public services, green hydrogen, battery technology, industrial decarbonisation, biotech and medical devices.

Sridhar Babu proposed setting up a “Telangana–Norway Working Group” to prepare a comprehensive roadmap for cooperation.

The Norwegian delegation welcomed the proposal, stating readiness to work with progressive Indian states like Telangana and further strengthen bilateral ties. They assured steps towards forming the working group. The discussions also focused on long-term investment partnerships and innovation exchange.

Officials including Bjorn Iversen, Silje Kristine Andersen and Siri Veseth Meling attended the meeting.
