The government of Telangana has decided to establish an additional 18 Special Adoption Centres (SAAs) and 2 Child Care Centres (Children's Homes) throughout the state. These proposals have been approved, and Minister for Women and Child Welfare, Seethakka, signed the necessary documents on Friday.
The project will proceed once it receives the signature of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
In a statement, the Minister emphasised that the state government is prioritising child welfare by supporting orphans and children who have been abandoned by their parents. The government is committed to meeting their needs and conducting the adoption process in accordance with established guidelines, she said.
Presently, there are 17 adoption centers operating in 15 districts of Telangana. With the addition of the 18 new centers, the total number will rise to 35.
Seethakka emphasised that the state government is implementing stringent measures against the illegal sale of children and unauthorised adoptions. In line with this initiative, it has decided to establish adoption and child care centers.
She mentioned that the Union government has already approved the execution of these plans.
