TFC launches its second fish canteen

The Telangana Fish Corporation (TFC) has launched its second fish canteen, expanding its efforts to promote fish consumption across Hyderabad. Following the success of its first outlet near the Fisheries Department’s main office at Masab Tank, the new canteen has been inaugurated at the Gagan Vihar Complex in Nampally, close to Metro Pillar Number 1300.

The opening ceremony drew several leaders, including Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Rajya Sabha Member Anil Kumar Yadav, Bhuvanagiri MP Chamal Kiran Kumar Reddy, and Telangana Fisheries Chairman Mettu Sai Kumar. Speaking at the event, Mayor Vijayalakshmi said the state government is committed to promoting healthier food habits. ‘To encourage better public health, the government aims to increase fish consumption through accessible canteens like this,’ she noted.

After sampling dishes, MP Anil Kumar Yadav praised the menu, saying the food’s quality would help the canteen attract strong public support. Fisheries Chairman Mettu Sai Kumar emphasized the health benefits of fish and said the initiative also opens livelihood opportunities.
