In a landmark announcement, the Telangana government has unveiled its Vision 2047 for women-led development, centred on the flagship “Koti Mahila Koteeswarulu” programme that aims to empower one crore women to achieve a net worth of Rs 1 crore each by 2047 while positioning them as co-creators of the state’s innovation-driven economy.
The initiative builds on Telangana’s already impressive record: the state’s female labor force participation rate stands at 52.7% (2023-24 PLFS), significantly higher than the national average of 41.7%. Over 60 lakh women are part of self-help groups (SHGs), which have received Rs 21,632 crore in interest-free loans, spawning more than 2.25 lakh micro-enterprises.
The comprehensive roadmap spans the following- Ensuring universal high-school completion for every girl, statewide scholarships and free transport support, guaranteed quality crèches, after-school care and community childcare centers, one-stop online compliance & facilitation portal for women entrepreneurs , unified ecosystem linking WE-Hub, T-Hub and district centers, “Global Telangana Women Connect” – sponsored international roadshows and deal days for women-led businesses, dedicated plug-and-play industrial parks with shared labs, logistics and childcare, women-only transit fleets, shuttle services, e-bikes and safe-route lighting and tax rebates and recognition for employers hiring women returning after career breaks
Quantified targets include raising women’s literacy to 100%, female LFPR above 80%, and universal formal individual credit access by 2047. The plan also commits to 100% UDID enrolment for persons with disabilities and barrier-free infrastructure across the state. Stree Nidhi, the state-backed SHG-owned credit cooperative, will play a pivotal role with its paperless, biometric-enabled lending that has already disbursed thousands of crores while maintaining strong repayment discipline.
