Employment generation is a key driver of Telangana’s growth, and the state has emerged as a model for India in this regard, especially in the IT sector. With technology adoption and its global importance increasing day by day, IT has become a critical source of job creation in both government and private sectors. Telangana has successfully created the necessary infrastructure and ecosystem to attract international companies, opening doors for students and professionals to access technical employment opportunities.

Currently, Telangana hosts around 7,000 IT companies, the second-highest in India after Karnataka, which has 10,000. This means nearly 23% of all IT companies in the country operate in Telangana. Hyderabad serves as the central hub, with a rapid expansion of both multinational giants and local startups. The state’s IT sector is now a strong pillar of Telangana’s economy and a major contributor to India’s IT growth.

Global technology companies such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Oracle, and Deloitte have established some of their largest campuses in Hyderabad, enhancing the state’s prestige. Over the past two years alone, more than 80 foreign companies have launched new development centers in the city. Factors such as world-class infrastructure, skilled human resources, and investor-friendly policies have transformed Hyderabad into a global tech hub. New IT parks are emerging in Nanakramguda, Gachibowli, Kondapur, and Pochampally, promising employment opportunities for hundreds of thousands.

In terms of employment, Telangana’s IT sector provides over 9 lakh direct jobs and indirectly supports more than 30 lakh livelihoods. Projects like AI City, Innovation Hubs, and TV-TASK centers are offering global-level platforms for young professionals. Global companies, data centers, gaming studios, and fintech startups are expanding beyond Hyderabad to secondary cities like Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, and Nizamabad, providing rural youth with greater employment opportunities.

Experts estimate Telangana’s IT exports will reach Rs 3.6 lakh crore by 2025. Women’s employment is also rising, with 42% of trainees under programs like TASK being women. By creating an environment that attracts international firms and supports local talent, Telangana has established itself as a national model for IT-driven growth and employment generation.
