The Telangana government has decided to install a statue of the legendary singer, the late S P Balasubrahmanyam in the premises of Ravindra Bharati. State Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Thursday visited Ravindra Bharati along with senior actor and Balasubrahmanyam's brother-in-law 'Subhalekha' Sudhakar to take a look at the arrangements for statue installation, official sources said.
Krishna Rao said in a post on 'X' that he made several suggestions to the officials. Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam (4 June 1946 – 25 September 2020), commonly known as SPB or Balu, was a versatile personality. Apart from playback singing, he dabbled in television as a presenter, composed music, and also produced films. He was well versed in several languages and worked in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi films and sang in a total of 16 languages.
He held the Guinness World Record for recording the highest number of songs by a singer with over 50,000 songs in 16 languages.
