Criticizing the previous BRS regime for not doing enough for Tourism sector in its 10 years rule, Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao highlighted his government’s priorities and targets through the new Tourism Policy 2025-30.

Participating in short discussion on Telangana State Tourism Policy in Assembly on Tuesday, Jupally stated that the Telangana Tourism Policy 2025-30 aims to transform the state into India’s most preferred tourism destination by leveraging its rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and modern infrastructure. The policy seeks to attract Rs 15,000 crore in investments and create three lakh jobs over five years while enhancing tourism’s contribution to the state GDP to 10%, he said.

Amidst the opposition benches standing protest on various issues in the assembly, Jupally highlighted the key objectives of the tourism policy which include developing safe and accessible tourist destinations through initiatives like tourist police, CCTV surveillance, and women-friendly measures. Infrastructure development will focus on Special Tourism Areas (STAs) such as Vikarabad, Ramappa, Nagarjuna Sagar, and Charminar. These will cater to diverse themes like eco-tourism, heritage tourism, and adventure tourism. Iconic projects near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and along the ORR and RRR will include luxury malls, river tourism, and wellness centers, the minister added.

To encourage investments, the government proposes public-private partnerships (PPP) with models like BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) and JV (Joint Ventures).  Sustainable tourism projects emphasizing green energy, waste reduction, and conservation will receive additional support, he stressed.
