TG to hold Varuna Yagnam at Nagarjuna Sagar on August 10

The Telangana government will conduct a Varuna Yagnam at Nagarjuna Sagar on August 10, seeking abundant rainfall across the state. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has decided to organise the Vedic ritual with the objective of invoking timely rains and ensuring adequate water availability for agriculture and drinking purposes.

The Yadagirigutta Temple priests, Vedic scholars and astrologers have fixed August 10 as the auspicious date for the ceremony. The Yagnam will be held at the Vijaya Vihar premises on the banks of the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam under the supervision of the Endowments Department.

The ritual will be led by State Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, while priests and Vedic scholars from Yadagirigutta will perform the ceremonies according to Vedic traditions.

Special prayers will be offered for plentiful rainfall and to ensure that the Krishna and Godavari rivers, along with tanks and reservoirs across Telangana, receive sufficient inflows. The prayers will also seek a prosperous agricultural season with abundant crop yields.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is expected to participate in the Maha Purnahuti, the concluding ceremony of the Varuna Yagam.
