B. Shyam has been unanimously elected as the new General Secretary of the Telangana Gazetted Officers’ Central Association through a democratic and consultative process, in accordance with the Association’s by-laws.

The post fell vacant following the retirement of the incumbent General Secretary, A. Satyanarayana, on December 31, 2025. At the State Executive Committee meeting held earlier on October 10, near Edupayala in Medak district, the Committee unanimously resolved to vest full authority with the State President, Eluri Srinivasa Rao, to co-opt or elect a new General Secretary. Subsequently, on December 5,  the State President authorized the existing General Secretary to complete the process democratically.

Extensive discussions were held at the Secretariat meeting on October 24, followed by multiple rounds of opinion gathering from presidents and secretaries of all 33 districts, two special branches, and Central Committee members. Final consultations were conducted on December 11, 12, 15, 16, and 19. Based on the majority opinion, and keeping the Association’s interests in view, Associate State President B. Shyam, Assistant Commissioner (State Taxes), Saroor Nagar-3 Circle, was unanimously co-opted as the new General Secretary, effective January 1, 2026.
