Construction activity in Andhra Pradesh’s capital region is gathering pace, with the government preparing to accelerate several key infrastructure projects. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana has announced that the third phase of works on the crucial Seed Access Road will commence on August 29. Narayana made the announcement after participating in the re-consecration ceremony of the centuries-old Sri Ganga Parvathi Sametha Sri Ramalingeswara Swamy and Sri Balakoteswara Swamy temples at Tulluru in Guntur district. He offered special prayers before addressing the media.

Recalling the Amaravati movement, the minister said the farmers’ ‘Nyayasthanam to Devasthanam’ padayatra, undertaken to protect Amaravati, had begun from the same Tulluru temple and successfully reached its destination. He said the renewed development of Amaravati was being carried forward on the foundation of the sacrifices made by the capital-region farmers. The government is currently focusing on major connectivity projects, particularly the Inner Ring Road and railway line.

A final decision on the proposed airport would be taken subsequently, Narayana said. The minister also announced plans to accelerate construction of towers in Amaravati’s Administrative City. The government has drawn up a schedule aimed at completing one tower every month, signaling an attempt to move the capital’s core administrative infrastructure into rapid execution. Work related to the development of returnable plots allotted to capital-region farmers is also set to move forward.

Tenders for the development works will be opened on August 27, after which field-level works will commence at a faster pace once the tendering process is completed. With the third phase of the Seed Access Road, Inner Ring Road, railway connectivity, administrative towers and farmers’ returnable plots moving simultaneously, the government is seeking to give renewed momentum to Amaravati’s physical development and establish the capital as a fully integrated administrative and urban center.
