International Tiger Day was celebrated at Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad with a series of conservation and awareness initiatives. A plantation drive led by the Deputy Curator featured native saplings including Juvvi, Marri, and Raavi planted alongside zoo staff. Educational activities and a student rally—comprising over 500 students and 20 staff—took place from the main gate to the tiger enclosure, raising slogans for tiger protection.

Awareness programmes such as keeper talks were conducted at the tiger enclosure under the supervision of the Zoo Education Officer, drawing around 1,000 visitors. The event also saw participation from school principals and managing directors.

In a notable gesture, VIPs International School adopted the white tiger Dhruva for a year. Representatives from the school, including the managing director and branch in charges, presented a Rs 3 lakh cheque to support the tiger’s care and feeding.

Among those present were key officials from the zoo’s veterinary, education, and forestry departments. The celebration combined public engagement, student activism, and corporate responsibility to highlight the importance of tiger conservation.
