Raising issue of 42% reservations proposed by State Congress government, Telangana State BJP president N Ramchander Rao today said  Backward Classes Associations and BC leaders within Congress party are against the conspiracy of Revanth Reddy government which is trying to gain political mileage by providing 10% reservation to Muslim community.

Speaking to media persons at Yellandu in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on way to Mahabubabad district, Rao said of the proposed 42% BC reservations, Congress party is trying to provide 10% reservations to Muslims depriving rights of genuine BC classes. In the past, BC representation has been reduced in GHMC which has 50 councillor seats following allotment of 35 seats to Muslims which were reserved for BCs. BJP always opposed religion-based reservations, Rao said and accused Congress government of trying to blame the BJP for its inability to implement BC reservations.

On the issue of pending irrigation projects in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, the BJP chief urged the government to complete the pending Sitarama lift Irrigation Project and Devadula project to provide irrigation water to farmers. He said party MLAs would seek clarity on this matter from the government in the assembly.

At Bhadrachalam, after having darshan of Sri Seetharamachandra Swamy temple amidst chanting of Veda mantras by temple purohits, Rao alleged that the recent attacks on Hindu temples and organizations clearly shows that the State Congress government is indulging in vote bank politics. He said the attacks on the Mutyalamma and Peddamma temples in Hyderabad is a example of inaction of Revanth Reddy government for not taking action against culprits.”

It is not a good practice, he lamented. He also condemned allotment of TTD lands to madarasas and construction of markets on these lands. He criticised government for handing over temple lands to other religions and demanded the government to take back such lands and returned to temples.

On the development of Bhadrachalam temple town, the BJP chief said Union minister G Kishan Reddy, during his tenure as a culture minister, has allotted Rs 98 crore for development of the town and already Rs 42 to 48 crore has been released. The remaining amount would be released after Detailed Project Report (DPR) is submitted, he said.

Rao said the State government should extend cooperation for the development of this temple town. But it has failed to neither acknowledged nor appreciated development efforts of the Central government. At Kothagudem, speaking as chief guest in Kothagudem Bar Association meeting, Rao said there was an urgent need of  “Advocate Protection Act” in Telangana as attacks on advocates have been increasing day by day in the State.

Rao said after taking over charge as party chief he has written a letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy requesting need of the Act as States like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have been already implementing the Advocate Protection Act. We have already submitted a memorandum to the governor in this regard, he said. Stating that dimension of politics has been changed, Rao appealed people and individuals with good public spirited ideas with aim of serving people to enter politics. “ Politics means service and not for making money” he asserted and said currently, real estate businessmen and wealthy individuals are increasingly entering politics. He said there were 256 advocates are serving as MPs in parliament.
