Students of the Tribal Welfare Girls’ Residential School at Gandhinagar in Kothaguda mandal staged a protest on Thursday, demanding immediate action to resolve a severe drinking water crisis that has reportedly persisted for the past month.

The students held a dharna in front of the school, alleging that the shortage had disrupted their daily routine and made it difficult to maintain basic hygiene. They said they were unable to use the toilets in the morning before attending classes due to the lack of water.

The protesters further alleged that the school management had failed to ensure adequate water supply to the bathrooms. They also claimed that the headmaster had collected Rs. 10 from each student for repair works but had not carried out the promised repairs.

The students alleged that when they questioned teachers about the issue, they were threatened with a reduction in their internal examination marks.

On receiving information, Kothaguda Sub-Inspector Raj Kumar reached the school and interacted with the students. Local Congress leader B. Roop Singh brought the issue to the attention of Minister Seethakka, who spoke to the students over the phone and assured them that their grievances would be addressed at the earliest.
