On the occasion of the 199th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule on Saturday, floral tributes were paid to his statue in Padmavathi Colony of Mahabubnagar city. Mayor Gummalla Mamatha Srinivas, DEPUTY Mayor Marepally Surender Reddy, District Collector Khushboo Gupta, Mahabubnagar Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman Laxman Yadav and Library Chairman Mallu Narsimhareddy were among the prominent ones who paid tributes.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Mayor said that Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, a pioneering social reformer who strove for the eradication of the caste system through education, emphasized that only education can uplift people to greatness. He added that the thoughts and ideals of Phule continue to guide everyone. Corporators from various divisions, Golla Kuruma Sangham President Shantayya, Maithri Yadayya, INTUC members Ramulu, Sailu, Yadayya along with key leaders, government officials, party workers, women, and others participated in the program.
