On Android devices, the Admin can receive alerts for potential scam calls, step in remotely to block such calls, and even monitor phone activity, battery status, and availability for added oversight.

Truecaller has introduced Family Protection, a new feature designed to make digital safety a shared responsibility within families. Integrated into the Truecaller app on Android and iOS, the feature allows users to create trusted family groups, offering real-time protection against scam and unwanted calls.

Each family group can include up to five members, with one designated as the Family Admin. The Admin manages protection levels, handles blocklists, and guides how suspicious calls are dealt with. On Android devices, the Admin can receive alerts for potential scam calls, step in remotely to block such calls, and even monitor phone activity, battery status, and availability for added oversight. The aim is to help protect less tech-savvy family members from increasingly sophisticated scams.

Family Protection is free and encourages engagement across the Truecaller ecosystem. For enhanced safety, Truecaller Premium Family covers up to five users, offering advanced spam blocking, automatic rejection of high-risk numbers, and an ad-free experience, supporting Truecaller’s goal of growing subscriptions and user loyalty.

The feature is currently rolling out in Sweden, Chile, Malaysia, and Kenya, with an India launch scheduled for Q1 2026. Truecaller views Family Protection as a strategic step beyond call identification, toward building a broader ecosystem of communication safety.

“Truecaller empowers the ‘CTO’ of the family to protect less tech-savvy members,” said CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala. “As scams evolve, we aim to be the platform families can rely on for proactive protection and peace of mind.”

With over 450 million active users and 56 billion unwanted calls blocked in 2024 alone, Truecaller continues to strengthen its role in everyday communication.
