Two Armed Reserve Sub-Inspectors from the Cyber Crime Police Station under Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate were caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh at LB Nagar on Sunday.
The accused officers, Pramod Goud and Jatavath Baby Naik, were trapped by the ACB City Range-II unit at LB Nagar Chowrastha after allegedly demanding the bribe from a complainant. The cash was reportedly sought to issue a notice under Section 35 of the BNSS, rather than arresting the complainant in a cybercrime case, effectively extending an official favor.
ACB officials said Baby Naik received the bribe on behalf of himself and Pramod Goud. The entire amount of Rs 1 lakh was recovered from his possession. The officers allegedly misused their positions and acted dishonestly to gain undue advantage.
Both officers have been arrested and are scheduled to be presented before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
The ACB has appealed to the public to report any instances of bribery by government officials through its toll-free helpline 1064. The identity of the complainant has been kept confidential for security reasons.
