Adulterated oil, wheat flour worth Rs 21 lakh seized

Police busted a unit manufacturing adulterated cooking oil and repackaged wheat flour in Vattinagulapalli and arrested two persons, seizing large quantities of the products during a raid on Monday.

Acting on credible information, the Madhapur SOT police raided Sri Jasnath Traders shop located in Indiramma Colony, where they caught a father and son allegedly producing adulterated cooking oil and repackaging expired wheat flour for sale.

During the raid, police seized 5,026 litres of adulterated cooking oil worth about Rs 10 lakh and 5,192 kilograms of wheat flour valued at around Rs 3 lakh. Equipment used in the illegal operation, including a weighing machine, oil filter machine and wheat filter machine, was also seized. The total value of the seized material was estimated at around Rs 21 lakh.

According to police, the accused had been collecting expired cooking oil of various brands and mixing it with soybean oil to prepare adulterated cooking oil. The oil was then repacked and sold in the market using the labels of several well-known brands.

They were also found collecting expired wheat flour from different areas and repackaging it under the brand name ‘Jasnath Gold Chakki Atta’ before selling it in the market.

The arrested persons were identified as Bhanwar Ram Jat (46), a native of Rajasthan, and his son Ashok Kumar. They were handed over to the Gachibowli police station, where a case was registered and further investigation is underway.
