The Special Task Force (STF) of the Excise Department arrested two women and seized 2.4 kilograms of ganja during raids near Nampally Railway Station on Saturday. Acting on credible intelligence about illegal ganja sales in packets, STF-18 officials, led by Inspector Anjireddy, conducted surprise checks in the Major Basti and Afzalgunj areas.
During the operation, authorities recovered 532 packets of ganja from the women, each weighing approximately 400 grams. The total seizure amounted to 2.4 kilograms of the contraband. The arrested women have been identified as Upadhyaya Baluva Bai and Kamble Galan Bhai.
In connection with the case, the Excise Department also registered cases against 10 other individuals believed to be part of the distribution network. All seized ganja and the arrested women have been handed over to the Nampally Excise Station for further investigation and legal action under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The authorities have intensified operations in the area to curb drug trafficking and are investigating the broader network linked to the peddlers.
