Vadodara’s Voice Soars To Royal College Honour

Vadodara-born singer, researcher and scholar Vedang Parmar has been awarded a prestigious full-fees doctoral scholarship at the renowned Royal College of Music in London. The highly competitive scholarship is awarded to only one overseas doctoral student globally each year.Parmar, 26, will begin his doctoral studies in September 2026.  His research will focus on Muscle Tension Dysphonia, a voice disorder that affects many professional singers but remains under-researched.

The study will be conducted at the RCM’s Centre for Performance Science in collaboration with Imperial College London. A former student of KM Music Conservatory, Parmar has also studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. 

He is also the founder of the Global South Mobility Initiative, a think tank focused on international mobility challenges. The scholarship recognises not only Parmar’s academic excellence but also his contribution to music education and research.  His achievement places him among a select group of international scholars pursuing advanced studies at one of the world’s most respected music institutions, bringing pride to Gujarat and India’s music community.
