Officials from Vantara Zoo, Gujarat, paid a surprise visit to Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, on Thursday. J Vasantha, IFS, Curator of the zoo, along with staff, warmly welcomed Brij Kishore Gupta, Director of Vantara Zoo, at the main office.

The visit coincided with the birthday celebrations of Prema, the youngest one-horned Indian rhinoceros at the park. Gupta and his team participated in the festivities, which featured a 5-kg jumbo cake made entirely of fruits and vegetables. Nehru Zoological Park currently houses five one-horned Indian rhinoceroses: Suraj, Saraswathi, Sai Vijay, Nanda, and Prema.

The visiting delegation also toured the safari park and other endangered animal enclosures, appreciating the zoo’s maintenance and congratulating the management and staff on earning ISO certification.M Barnoba, Deputy Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, Dr. M A Hakeem, Deputy Director (Vet), Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad and other officials were present.
