Since the formation of NDA government in Andhra Pradesh, steps have been taking place rapidly regarding the Vijayawada Metro project. AIIB (Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank) is keen to lend Rs 5,900 crore to the project. The bank's representatives inspected the two corridors to be taken up in the first phase at the field level. They examined the areas where more congestion was estimated to be and expressed satisfaction. Some other banks have also come forward to lend.

A report on these will be prepared and sent to the central government after consultations. At Gannavaram airport, the line will be laid 2.925 km underground. In the rest of the areas the train will go on the bridge. Metro coach depot will be set up at Kesarapalli near Gannavaram. From there, there will be a corridor up to PNBS in Vijayawada.
