VinFast began local production at its Tamil Nadu facility last year and has already launched the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs in the Indian market
Electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast India is gearing up for an aggressive expansion in 2026, with plans to introduce three new electric models and significantly widen its sales network across the country, according to company CEO Tapan Ghosh.
Speaking about the company’s strategy, Ghosh said the upcoming models are being developed around real Indian usage patterns rather than just technical specifications. The focus, he noted, is on delivering premium features with strong value, keeping price-sensitive Indian consumers in mind.
VinFast’s first major launch this year will be a seven-seater electric MPV. Positioned as a premium yet practical offering, the MPV is aimed at both family buyers and commercial users, reflecting the company’s belief that EV adoption in India will increasingly extend beyond personal ownership to shared and fleet-based mobility.
Following the MPV, VinFast plans to roll out additional models catering to different customer segments. “Our emphasis is on safety, reliability and long-term value — the fundamentals that help build sustainable brands — rather than chasing short-term trends,” Ghosh said.
VinFast began local production at its Tamil Nadu facility last year and has already launched the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs in the Indian market. By the end of 2025, the company had set up 35 showrooms across major cities.
In 2026, VinFast aims to more than double this number to 75 showrooms nationwide. While the brand currently operates mainly in metro, Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, it plans to expand deeper into Tier 3 and Tier 4 markets, while also strengthening its presence in high-volume urban centres.
Additionally, VinFast will collaborate with partners from Vingroup’s green mobility ecosystem to introduce charging infrastructure and all-electric ride-hailing solutions, with the aim of making EVs more visible and widely used in everyday life.
