Elections for the Graduates’ Constituency of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council were conducted smoothly across NTR, Krishna, and Godavari districts on Thursday, amidst tight security arrangements.
Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav and NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha inspected several polling stations, including the one at Koneru Basavaiah Chowdary (KBC) Zilla Parishad High School in Patamata, Vijayawada. They closely monitored the polling process to ensure fair and transparent elections.
Polling in NTR district started at a moderate pace, with 10.87% voter turnout recorded by 10 a.m. However, as the day progressed, the turnout increased significantly, reaching 65.58% by 4 p.m., when voting officially concluded. A total of 78,063 graduates exercised their franchise in the district.
Alongside Krishna-Guntur, elections were also held in East and West Godavari districts for the East-West Godavari Graduates’ Constituency, which recorded a 63.28% voter turnout by 4 p.m.
Meanwhile, polling for the Srikakulam-Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam Teachers’ MLC seat witnessed a remarkably high turnout of 91.82% by the close of voting. The elections in these key constituencies were conducted peacefully with strict security measures in place to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process. The results of these crucial Legislative Council elections are eagerly awaited.
