In a refreshing break from political formality, Andhra Pradesh IT and Industries Minister Nara Lokesh sparked a social-media buzz on Sunday with a witty tweet that has since gone viral. “Waiting for big investment announcements?... Breaking news… Sorry, it’s Sunday, we are on holiday!” he wrote, adding a playful twist to the state’s ongoing investment euphoria.

Lokesh didn’t stop there. With India-South Africa locked in a nail-biting cricket match, he joked that the government team was “busy watching the match,” earning chuckles and shares across platforms. The light-hearted comment stood out at a time when the public had been eagerly anticipating further announcements following the massive success of the CII Partnership Summit held in Visakhapatnam.

The three-day global summit concluded on a historic note, delivering record-breaking investment commitments for Andhra Pradesh. Backed by the focused efforts of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the state secured an unprecedented flow of proposals, reinforcing its position as a major investment destination.

According to official data, the summit witnessed the signing of 613 MoUs, promising a staggering ₹13.25 lakh crore in investments across key sectors. These projects are expected to generate significant employment opportunities, with the government estimating over 16 lakh direct and indirect jobs for the state’s youth in the coming years. Lokesh’s humorous tweet, dropped amid this wave of optimism, offered a moment of levity while reflecting the confidence of a government buoyed by its investment successes.
