Singareni CMD hands over insurance cheques to families

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), following Telangana government directions, implemented a Rs 1 crore accident insurance scheme for its employees. CMD N. Balaram, IRS, handed over insurance cheques to the families of two employees at Singareni Bhavan, Kothagudem, through a video conference programme on Sunday.

The wife of Mohammed Abdul Azeem, who died in a Khammam accident on 25.02.2025, received Rs 1 crore, while the wife of Battula Rajeshwara Rao, who died in a rail accident on 02.02.2024, received Rs 40 lakh. Both employees had corporate salary accounts with SBI, making them eligible under the scheme and the 2024 MoU.

SCCL said it was the first government company to coordinate with banks to provide accident insurance of up to Rs 1.25 crore, offering financial support to families of employees. Contract workers are also covered for up to Rs 40 lakh.

Director (Operations) L.V. Suryanarayana, Director (P&P) K. Venkateshwarlu, Director (PA) Goutham Potru, IAS, and SBI Regional Manager S. Satyanarayana handed over the cheques to the families. Under CSR initiatives, the CMD also launched the first batch of honey collected by women trained in beekeeping with support from Manab Kalyan Welfare Society and Tripura. Women received beekeeping boxes and kits to help generate income through honey production.

Officials from Kothagudem Area, trade union representatives, SBI officers, beekeepers, and Singareni staff attended the programme, which also highlighted the company’s commitment to employee welfare and local community development.
