Dr. Kadiyam Kavya, the Member of Parliament from Warangal, has urged the government to explore block chain technology to ensure transparent access to agricultural subsidies for small holder farmers.

In a question raised in the Lok Sabha, Dr. Kavya asked the Ministry of Rural Development whether it is considering block chain based digital land records for farmers in Warangal to streamline subsidy distribution and curb fraud. She further sought details on any pilot projects planned across Telangana’s districts and a timeline for implementing this technology to enhance transparency in rural subsidy programs.

In response, Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State for Rural Development, stated that the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP), a fully centrally funded initiative launched in April 2016, is currently underway. However, block chain based land records are not part of this program, rendering the question of a timeline for scaling such technology inapplicable.

Dr. Kavya’s proactive inquiry reflects her dedication to leveraging cutting-edge technology to support Warangal’s farming community, emphasizing solutions to ensure fair and fraud-free subsidy distribution across rural India. Her question has sparked discussions on modernizing land record systems to empower smallholder farmers.
