Wheat eases in Indore; rice prices remain steady

Wheat prices declined in Indore on Thursday due to weak market sentiment, while rice prices remained unchanged across key spot markets.

Maize prices, however, edged higher in Indore amid concerns over lower kharif production. Wheat prices in Indore fell by ₹10 to ₹2,720 per 100 kg, traders said. Demand remained subdued despite lower arrivals, as adequate supplies continued to keep the market well stocked.

Traders said that government inventories and stocks held by flour mills were sufficient to meet current demand, limiting any upward movement in prices. The Centre's planned open market sale of wheat is also expected to weigh on prices. In Vashi, Navi Mumbai, wheat prices were unchanged at ₹2,700 per 100 kg. Heavy rainfall in and around Mumbai had slowed trading activity, while prices may soften further once normal market operations resume.
