Wheat rises in Indore on lower arrivals, supplies

11-07-2026 12:00:00 AM

Wheat prices showed a mixed trend across major spot markets on Friday, while maize and rice remained largely unchanged as traders awaited clearer signals from the ongoing kharif season.

In Indore, wheat prices gained modestly due to a slight increase in demand from millers and lower arrivals, while traders said maize and rice markets continued to witness limited activity.

Wheat prices in Indore rose by ₹10 to ₹2,730 per 100 kg. Traders said prices have been fluctuating within a narrow range over the past few days as minor changes in arrivals and demand continue to influence the market.

Need-based buying by millers and traders has provided some support, even though overall demand remains stable.

Arrivals have declined as farmers remain occupied with kharif sowing.

Traders noted that daily arrivals vary depending on farmers' sowing schedules and their immediate cash requirements.

In Navi Mumbai's Vashi market, wheat prices remained steady at ₹2,700 per 100 kg. Traders said heavy rainfall earlier in the week reduced market activity and footfall, although prices may ease by around ₹50 per 100 kg once normal trading resumes. Maize prices remained unchanged in Indore at ₹2,365 per 100 kg amid balanced demand and supply, while rice prices also held steady.
