21-year-old woman killed in Brazil bungee jump rope tragedy

Rio De Janeiro: A woman died after falling more than 130 feet during a bungee jump in Brazil when the safety rope was allegedly not attached before she was released from a bridge. Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, 21, was taking part in a jump organised by a private company at Skeleton Bridge in Sao Paulo state. Videos circulating on social media appear to show staff releasing her without connecting the safety cord.

Witnesses can be heard shouting, “The rope, people, the rope,” as she fell. Emergency responders reached the scene but could only confirm her death. Police arrested six people and launched a probe into possible negligence.
