In a scathing attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Chief YS Sharmila Reddy lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its alleged complicity during the five-year rule of the YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh. Drawing sharp criticism, Sharmila accused the BJP-led central government of turning a blind eye to the destruction caused during YSRCP’s tenure.

Referring to Amit Shah’s remarks labeling YSRCP’s governance a disaster, Sharmila questioned the BJP’s role during that period. “For five years, while Andhra Pradesh was plunged into chaos under YSRCP, weren’t you comfortably seated in Delhi watching it unfold?” she asked.

Sharmila did not hold back in her critique, asking why the Centre failed to intervene when critical projects like Polavaram were delayed under the guise of reverse tendering. “Did you question former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy even once? When Andhra Pradesh functioned as a state without a capital for five years, was the Centre unaware?” she questioned.

She also pointed to the mounting state debt under YSRCP, accusing the BJP of silence despite loans exceeding Rs.10 lakh crore. Sharmila accused the BJP of using Jagan Mohan Reddy as a tool for their benefit. “For five years, Jagan was your adopted son, a puppet who danced to your tunes, supported your bills in Parliament like a rubber stamp, and acted as an agent handing over the state’s natural resources to corporate entities,” she alleged.

Sharmila did not stop at rhetoric, demanding concrete action from Amit Shah. “If you truly stand by your statements, the Congress demands an immediate probe into YSRCP’s five-year rule by central investigative agencies. Do you have the courage to do that?” she asked.
