Zoo park conducts events to mark wildlife week

As part of “World Wildlife Week” (October 2nd to 8th) celebration, the Nehru Zoological Park on Wednesday conducted bird watching program. The watchers from different organizations visited the Zoo in the early morning hours and sited many indigenous birds species like Grey Hornbill, Barn Owl, Pariah Kite, Rose-ringed Parakeet, Purple Moorhen, Painted Stork, Black Drongo, White Breasted King Fisher, Babbler, Black headed Ibis, Little Egret, Large Egret, Lap wing and other birds were identified and recorded in their list during their visit.

To mark the wildlife week celebrations conclusion day a rally “Zoo Run” has been conducted. J. Vasantha, Curator, Nehru Zoological Park flagged off the rally at the main gate. The rally was started from the Golden Jubilee Pylon covering all the animal enclosures around the Zoo (3KMS). All the Zoo Staff members actively participated in the rally by chanting the slogans like save Wildlife, save Forest. 

Harisoa Lalatiana Accouche, High Commissioner of Seychelles in India, visited the Nehru Zoological Park, as a part of her official visit. Dr. Sunil S. Hiremath, Director, Zoo Parks, Hyderabad and J. Vasantha, Zoo Curator gave a warm welcome at the main office and showed her the Aldabra Giant Tortoise which was gifted by the President of Seychelles during his visit to India in the year 2018. Many senior officials working in the Zoological park attended the events.
