Election authorities in Jubilee Hills have intensified vigilance ahead of the Assembly bye-election, resulting in massive seizures of cash, liquor, narcotics, and other items. According to a cumulative report released at 6 am on Thursday, officials confiscated a total of Rs 3.33 crores in unaccounted cash. The Flying Squad Team seized Rs 58.23 lakh, the Static Surveillance Team recovered Rs 1.34 crores, and the Police Department secured Rs 1.40 crores.
Authorities also seized 685.58 litres of liquor valued at Rs 4.63 lakh, with 523.39 litres recovered by police and 162.19 litres by the excise department. Additionally, 2.62 kg of ganja and 0.011 grams of MDMA worth nearly Rs 1.97 lakh were confiscated.
Miscellaneous items including vehicles, laptops, cookers, and sarees worth Rs 1.37 lakh were also seized. These measures aim to curb the illegal distribution of cash, liquor, and freebies to voters.
Under the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), 23 cases have been registered, including illegal meetings, cash inducement, poll violence, and caste-related issues. Authorities continue round-the-clock monitoring to ensure a free and fair election in Jubilee Hills.
