Metro India News | Hyderabad : Maxivision Super Speciality Eye Hospitals has introduced SMILE Pro (VISUMAX 800), an advanced laser vision correction technology, at its Somajiguda centre in Hyderabad. Actor Nagarjuna Akkineni inaugurated the facility on November 2, marking a new addition to the hospital chain's refractive surgery services. Maxivision said it is the first corporate eye care chain in Telangana to introduce the technology.

The launch was attended by Dr Kasu Prasad Reddy, Founder and Chief Mentor, Dr GSK Velu, Chairman, Dr Varun Malhotra, Chief Clinical Officer, Dr Anitha C Kamarthy, Senior Cataract and Glaucoma Surgeon at the Somajiguda branch, and Ganesh Subramaniam, Chief Business Officer.

SMILE Pro is a minimally invasive, flapless laser procedure that corrects vision through a small incision in the cornea, without creating a corneal flap. Using the ZEISS VISUMAX 800 femtosecond laser system, the laser treatment for myopia takes less than 10 seconds per eye. The procedure can help correct short-sightedness and astigmatism in eligible patients, with recovery generally allowing a return to routine activities soon after surgery.

Suitability is determined through a detailed eye examination and clinical assessment. Dr Kasu Prasad Reddy said the introduction reflected the hospital's commitment to adopting advanced ophthalmic technologies, improving treatment precision and making quality eye care more accessible. Dr Varun Malhotra said the development would strengthen the hospital's clinical capabilities and expand treatment options for patients.

Apart from refractive surgery, Maxivision provides specialised services in cataract care, retina, glaucoma and cornea treatment.
