The new railway track construction in Andhra Pradesh is happening at a fast pace. 1,560 kms of new railway track has been constructed in AP state in the last 10 years which is more than the entire Rail network of Srilanka. Rs. 84,559 is being invested for various Rail development projects in Andhra Pradesh state. In the latest budget, the state has received a bonanza of Rs 9,417 Cr for the year 2025-26.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways said that the annual average budget outlay for combined Andhra Pradesh State during the years 2009-14 was only Rs. 886 crores. The Budget allocation to Andhra Pradesh State has witnessed 11 times increase as compared to the average allocation done during the period of 2009-14 for the combined state.  

The  Minister informed that the Railway network in Andhra Pradesh is now 100% electrified. He stated that SCR is leading in the installation of Kavach, with 1,465 Kms commissioned across its jurisdiction. We have targeted to deploy Kavach throughout the entire Rail network of the Country in the next 6 years, he added. He informed that 1,560 Kms of new Railway track has been constructed in AP state in the last 10 years which is more than the entire Rail network of Srilanka.

Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that 8 Vande Bharat trains being operated in Andhra Pradesh State covering 15 districts and having 21 stoppages. Amrit Bharat Express running between Malda Town – Bengaluru has been provided 14 stoppages in AP state, he said. Further, he stated that redevelopment of 73 Railway stations in Andhra Pradesh State has been taken up under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He announced that 50 New Namo Bharat trains, 200 Vande Bharat trains and 100 new Amrit Bharat trains have been approved and the running of these trains will be announced from time to time.

The Union Minister stated that Railways has undertaken a significant mission of replacement of old tracks i.e., 7,000 Kms. Indian Railways is planning to upgrade the Railway tracks to run the trains at a speed of 160 Kmph on important sections. Similarly, some routes will have the capacity to run the trains at speed of 130 Kmph and entire network will have a capacity to run the trains at 100 Kmph.
