Prof. L. C. Mallaiah appointed as VC of Dravidian University

Prof. Chinna Mallaiah Lakkineni from the School of Economics has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Dravidian University, Kuppam with effect from March 13, 2026. Prof. Mallaiah completed his higher education from the University of Hyderabad(UoH) campus, earning his MA, MBA, MPhil, and PhD degrees before joining the faculty. Prior to his tenure at UoH, Prof. Mallaiah served as a Professor at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow. 

His academic career also includes faculty positions at the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar National Institute of Social Sciences (BANISS) in Mhow, the Central University of Karnataka, and the Government College for Women in Begumpet, Hyderabad. A well known personality in economics circles, his core areas of specialization encompass Development Economics, Industrial Economics, Agricultural Economics, the Economics of Marginalized Communities, Gender Economics and Ambedkar Economics.
