The FIFA World Cup 2026, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, is set to expand beyond football into a global entertainment spectacle. With an expanded 48-team format, FIFA is planning multiple opening ceremonies across host nations and exploring a halftime entertainment segment for the final, marking a new festival-style direction for the tournament.

For the half-time show, the confirmed names till now have been BTS, Shakira and Madonna. “Madonna, Shakira and BTS are global icons whose music transcends borders and generations, and we are proud to welcome them to the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino had said last month when the line-up was announced.

On the other hand, the United States opening ceremony shall see artists such as Katy Perry, LISA, Anitta and Rema. Mexico’s ceremony is widely speculated to feature Latin stars like Shakira, J Balvin and Burna Boy, reflecting the region’s strong musical identity. Canada’s opening shall witness Alanis Morissette, Michael Bublé, Alessia Cara and Nora Fatehi, and others as per most recent reports.
