ACB traps Telangana SI, constable over Rs 75,000 bribe in city

An SI of police and a constable were caught by the ACB here for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 75,000. The SI and constable attached to Chanda Nagar police station were caught on Saturday after the SI allegedly demanded and accepted Rs 75,000 from a complainant to help with the investigation of a case and filing of a charge sheet, the Anti-Corruption Bureau said in a release.

The bribe amount was recovered from the SI's office table drawer, it said. The SI had earlier received Rs 20,000 in cash, while the constable had received Rs 10,000 through online payments, the ACB said.

The accused allegedly acted improperly and dishonestly in the discharge of their duties to obtain undue advantage, it said, adding that they would be arrested and produced before a court for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
