The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, met at the Secretariat on Friday and approved a series of major policy decisions spanning agriculture, capital development, urban governance, digital connectivity, and infrastructure. The meeting, which lasted close to three hours, cleared 26 agenda items, signalling the government’s accelerated push towards administrative reforms and developmental projects.
One of the most notable decisions was the approval of the second phase of land consolidation in the Amaravati Capital Region. This move marks a critical step in resuming the stalled capital development programme and expanding the land bank required for shaping the core capital.
The Cabinet granted permission for the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) to pool 16,666.57 acres across seven villages. With assigned lands included, the total land targeted for consolidation in this phase rises to 20,494 acres. This is part of the government’s long-term plan to secure 74,000 acres, a combination of government land and land pooled from farmers, for the development of Amaravati.
In the first phase, 34,000 acres were voluntarily contributed by farmers, while 16,000 acres of government land were handed over to CRDA. The seven villages included in the new phase are Vaikuntapuram, Pedamadduru, Endrayi, Karlapudi, Vaddamanu, Harishchandrapuram, and Pedaparimi. A notification for the second phase of land pooling is expected to be issued soon.
The Cabinet also passed key proposals supporting agriculture, power infrastructure, digital connectivity, Panchayati Raj amendments, and the Polavaram project. It approved loans, new institutions, urban regulatory reforms, and multiple land allotments to various public bodies.
