Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to make healthcare more accessible, affordable and efficient while transforming medical research and patient care, said Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman, AIG Hospitals, while delivering the 16th Foundation Day Lecture at the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education on the topic "Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Healthcare."
Dr. Nageshwar Reddy described MIRA, AI-powered Medical Information Robotic Assistant, which assists doctors and nurses, answers patient queries, reduces consultation waiting time and supports medical education. Referring to the slow adoption of AI among doctors, "AI will not replace doctors, but doctors who know how to use AI will replace those who don't," he remarked.
Dr. C. Rangarajan, Chancellor of ICFAI observed that while AI is transforming the way students learn and teachers teach, it must be used responsibly, recognizing both its potential and its limitations. Dr. T. Koti Reddy, Vice Chancellor (I/c) recollected the leadership and contributions of the founder of ICFAI Group, N. J. Yasaswy.
