Amaravati activist Dhanekula Ramarao passes away

Dhanekula Ramarao, a member of the Amaravati Capital Protection Committee (JAC) and an active participant in the Amaravati movement, died following illness.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh expressed deep condolences over his death and recalled his role and sacrifices in the movement for Amaravati as the State capital.

Chandrababu Naidu said Ramarao had played an active role in the Amaravati movement from its inception and had even been jailed after cases were registered against him during the previous government’s tenure in connection with the capital movement.

The Chief Minister said the sacrifices and struggles of activists like Ramarao had contributed to the continuation of Amaravati as the capital. He prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Lokesh also paid tribute to Ramarao, describing his death as deeply painful and his services to the Amaravati movement as memorable. He recalled that Ramarao had led the movement from the forefront and faced several cases in the process.

Lokesh said Ramarao had been detained in jail for 40 days during the previous government’s tenure, but continued to raise the slogan of “One State – One Capital, Amaravati.” His fighting spirit and commitment to the movement would remain unforgettable, Lokesh said. He conveyed his deepest sympathies to Ramarao’s family.
